For Kano's and Juniors, it can be frustrating only being graded once every 3-4 months. Also, age can be restrictive. Therefore, the badge scheme is an initiative created by the Kamiko and Akitas Judo Clubs. This has been run, created and developed mainly by Kamiko for almost 4 years. The badges are designed for all martial arts by Merit Badge International. The idea was lifted from scouts and also some Karate schools who have found this to be a great learning process. Juniors love collecting the badges, and it seems they continually want to get more. Clubs involved will have a sheet for each of these badge awards available on each training night. Below is a table of all of our badges - and what each badge is for. Eventually, each technique will have a page dedicated to it and hyperlinked. The award scheme is not in anyway attached to the syllabi in any association, and is not governed as such. This scheme is meant to be encouragment and to assist usual gradings and promotions.
